New COVID-19 Question Added to 2020-2021 Common App

The Common Application opened up for the 2020-2021 school year on August 1st. This one-stop application streamlines the college application process, allowing students to use a general form to apply to nearly 900 colleges and universities. FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Pinellas All Star Football Classic Scholarship: These awards range from $500 to $5,000 and may renew. Eligible senior students in the Pinellas County Public High School system may apply. Students only need to fill out one application to match their needs and future interests. To start the process, you must register to set up an account.
BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIPS
Irv Noll Memorial Scholarship Fund: This annual one time award of $400 is from Berks County Community Foundation. It is for eligible high school seniors in Berks County, PA. To qualify, you must have a 2.5 GPA, and show qualities like kindness and sportsmanship. You must also intend to go to college and have played high school basketball, golf or baseball for at least 2 years.
BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIPS
David M Bohr Memorial Baseball Scholarship: This one time $500 award is from the Community Foundation of North Central Washington. It is open to eligible high school seniors at NCW approved high schools. To qualify, you must also take part in baseball, have a 2.0 GPA and show financial need.
SOCCER SCHOLARSHIPS
Bryan Cline Memorial Soccer Scholarship Program: The Albuquerque Community Foundation offers two annual awards of $800 each. They are available to Eldorado High School soccer team graduating seniors. One male, and one female. To apply, you need to name your varsity soccer team coach and provide two reference letters. You must also show you attend a college as a full time student.
ICE HOCKEY SCHOLARSHIPS
Maynard and Ferne Brownell Scholarship: The Community Foundations of Hudson Valley offers an annual scholarship of $750. It is for eligible high school seniors at Beacon HS, John Jay HS or Roy C. Ketcham High School. You do not need to play hockey to qualify. But applicants must take part in school sports and or community service projects. Along with a complete form, you must submit transcripts, an essay, resume, copy of SAR report and two reference letters.

Founded more than one hundred years ago as a way to protect student-athletes, the NCAA continues to implement that principle with increased emphasis on both athletics and academic excellence.
The NCAA is made up of three membership classifications that are known as Divisions I, II and III. Each division creates its own rules governing personnel, amateurism, recruiting, eligibility, benefits, financial aid, and playing and practice seasons – consistent with the overall governing principles of the Association. Every program must affiliate its core program with one of the three divisions.
A total of 174 one-time, $7,500 postgraduate scholarships (87 men, 87 women), divided equally among NCAA fall, winter and spring sports.

NAIA rules on financial aid are straightforward. Each school determines how much aid it awards to an individual student-athlete. Under no conditions may anyone else provide direct financial assistance to any student-athlete. Scholarships, grants-in-aid or student loans are controlled by each institution through the same committee that handles all student loans and scholarships.

Davis Law Group Scholar Athlete Program™ is a program to recognize exceptional student athletes that are performing well in the classroom and on the field by awards them a scholarship. Anyone is eligible to nominate a scholar; parents, coaches, peers, teammates, teacher or school administrators.
From January to March, two high school seniors in the greater Seattle area, will be chosen weekly as the Davis Law Group Scholar Athlete of the Week and given a $100 scholarship to acknowledge their academic and athletic commitment. A total of 20 scholarship recipients will be selected. After all 20 recipients are announced, scholars have the choice to enter the Sportsmanship Essay Contest for a chance to win an additional $1000 scholarship. Two $1000 Sportsmanship Scholarships will be awarded.
